Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 22/06/2010 - 20:16.

Dear Sandra and Simon
We just wanted to say thank you for making us so welcome during our short stay last weekend. We had a thoroughly relaxing weekend and we are really looking forward to coming back in August.
Once again thank you for your hospitality the wonderful breakfasts and for being so understanding following Sam's 'lamp' episode.
Kind regards
Sam, Paul and Dudley

Old Bakery wing

Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 29/05/2010 - 12:50.

Spent 3 nights recently in Old Bakery Wing, we were made to feel very welcome right from our arrival, lots of personal welcoming touches including fresh flowers upstairs and downstairs. Excellent breakfast cooked to order by Simon, yes I even ate the sausages not a usual thing for me! Very well furnished, very clean, bathroom gorgeous and well equipped. You would have to stay for a very long time to get through the reading choices available, but plenty of books on things to do locally and maps for walking the area. Great location for exploring the whole of Dorset, plenty of different pubs locally for eating out in, and the pub across the road was a good place for a drink if you do not wish to drive or have taxis, we had a very nice steak there on the Wednesday evening for £15.95 this was for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine! Sandra and Simon are a great couple nothing was too much trouble, and the dogs Henry and Bertie are great as well. Would definitely return to stay again. Jude and Barry Thanks again for making our stay FAB

Dog heaven... and we loved it too!

Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 05/05/2010 - 13:48.

Poppy our spaniel had a fantastic weekend, having the run of the bakery suite and the dog proof garden -  we have some great video of her playing with Henry and Bertie.  Sandra was extremely kind, sketching out on an OS map a route for us to follow around the local fields and then reserving us a table and providing directions to a great local pub.  Simon's ample breakfast set us up for our walks the next day on the coast.  Other good points - a very comfortable large bed, and the jacuzzi bath was fun.

Three day stay

Submitted by admin on Tue, 27/04/2010 - 10:30.

We have just had the best three day break possible with you, and have been made to feel so welcome, along with our dog Scooby, who loved Henry and Bertie. The countryside and people around the area are unique and so ar the pubs! You have a winning formula and deserve every success with your B&B. Thanks for welcoming us so warmly to your home. We shall be back! Andrew & Lisa Fell, Barby, Northants.

A lovely break away from it all

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 12/04/2010 - 12:12.

Just returned from a two night stay in the bakery wing and it really was lovely.
Good points:-

  • Lovely spacious accommodation, clean and luxurious
  • Sandra and Simon great knowledgeable hosts
  • Ate both nights in Sandra's recommended pubs - food was out of this world and very good value (Gaggle of Geese & Brace of Pheasants)
  • Amazing attention to detail such as pub sample menus and typed directions to the pubs.
  • Scrumptious breakfasts with sausages so nice they are the first I have eaten for 10 years.
  • etc etc etc......

Bad points:-

  • Two nights is not long enough

Fantastic!

Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 10/01/2010 - 19:08.

We returned to this fantastic b&b for New Year.  Having spent a night there in September we fancied getting away from it all for the New Year - so we booked two nights with Sandra and Simon - in their Bakery wing.
This bed and breakfast is much much more than your average b & b.  Either one of their regular rooms or the bakery wing.
To start - and where to start is hard - but the beds are huge & comfy, beautfully presented - and then there's the bathroom - the bakery wing has a jacuzzi - what fun.
The breakfasts - well they are scrumptious and would keep you going all day - and they serve up all local ingredients.  And what is more you can choose what time you would like to eat and not when the owners want you to - they really do know the meaning of service and are so focused on the customer.
The bakery wing has its own sitting room so you don't have to confine yourselves just to bedroom and there is a kitchenette - own fridge and mini oven.  Its got its own patio doors leading outside - which although a bit chilly to have open this time of year - gives you your own entrance if you so wish and I am guessing in the summer would be fantastic to have open and just admire the beuatiful Dorset scenery.
For those who like dogs - and we do - they have the most beautiful  and friendly labrodor called Henry and Spaniel called Burt  - who love a cuddle.
What else  - we could go on - there is a fantastic pub just accross the road - the food there is  fab as is the beer and wine - and good value - the landlord and landlady - who we believe have only been there a few months - are a lovely friendly couple - it really is a great local but welcoming to those who are new to the location.
Anyway we would thoroughly recommend this lovely b & b - Sandra and Simon are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble.

Happy staying to those who go!

We have just spent three

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 02/11/2009 - 19:47.

We have just spent three amazing nights at Old Causeway Bakery in the Old Bakery Wing. Simon and Sandra made us feel very welcome, the breakfast was fantastic. We took our little dog Gus with us who had a whale of a time playing with Bertie and Henry. The Old Bakery Wing is well worth the money with a fantastic bedroom, and bathroom ( I personally loved the jacuzzi bath!!!!) the pictures do not do the place justice. The lovely views, the peace, your own living room but with the added benefit of still having breakfast in your own personal dining room. We will definately be having a return visit sooner rather than later and have told all our friends about this wonderful amazing place!  Thank you Simon and Sandra (and Bertie and Henry) for making us feel so at home and an enjoyable few days I wish it was longer!!

Highly recommended.

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 15/09/2009 - 22:57.

We have just spent a wonderful three nights at Sandra and Simons Old Bakery with our one year old in tow!
We found them extremely hospitable from the moment we booked to when we left, nothing was too much trouble. They were both very accomodating when it came to our one year old, even when he woke at 3AM the first night! They have very good knoweledge of local attractions, pubs, restaurants etc. We took our own travel cot for our toddler and stayed in the large double with en-suite.The super kingsize bed was very comfortable.
We would love to stay again and would highly recommend.
Thanks again Alison,Tony&Jack.

Sandra & Simon are most welcoming and very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Their home is beautiful and they genuinely want to share it with you.Our doggies made immediate friends with Henry & Bertie and the open fields behind are good for walkies. There are ample good pub/restaurants who accept dogs down nearby country lanes. If you are interested, Simon will teach you crocquet (if you don't know the rules) although one of our doggies insisted on running away with the balls, which rather interrupted play. This is the ideal place to stay,( the beds are 6ft wide and very comfortable) restful nights  and fantastic breakfasts whilst visiting Dorset. We have already booked a return visit.

We stayed at The Old Causeway Bakery with Simon and Sandra for one night on 15.8.09.
Simon and Sandra proved to be generous and hospitable hosts.  The setting is beautiful, the breakfast was ample and well cooked.
The room was clean, beautifully appointed and the bed was not only huge, but wonderfully comfortable.
Best of all, Simon and Sandra we most welcoming and caring to our young Border Collie. Jonah and he enjoyed his time with Bertie and Henry.
Thanks for a lovely time.
